Leadership

As one of Baltimore’s premier real estate companies, David S. Brown Enterprises, LTD. prides itself on innovation. So it’s no wonder we’ve assembled a team known for their ability to think beyond the obvious and deliver accordingly. As a company that refuses to be held back by restrictive titles or bureaucracy, the management team at David S. Brown Enterprises brings a diverse set of minds, talents and expertise to the Baltimore real estate arena.

Howard S. Brown

Chairman

Howard Brown started his real estate career a bit earlier than most. While still in his teens, he spent summers running construction crews on local projects for his father’s burgeoning commercial real estate company. After graduating from the University of Maryland, Howard put his ideas and experience to work in the family real estate business. What began as a small one–man shop now employs more than 150 people and ranks as one of the top three real estate development firms in the Mid-Atlantic region. Howard provides the vision and leadership for a company that is recognized for developing signature real estate projects that address the specific needs of various audiences and end-users, consistently raises the bar and stands the test of time. He is a behind-the-scenes contributor to numerous organizations, not-of-profit associations, hospitals, educational institutions and religious groups.

Rich’s clients included those in the real estate industry where he was engaged for Tax, Financial Statement and Consulting services. Rich then became the corporate controller for a large family-owned real estate company serving Maryland; Virginia; Delaware and the District of Columbia. With this same real estate company, Rich rose to the position of Vice President of Finance and Operations where he oversaw the leasing, management, accounting and financings of the commercial real estate portfolio.

Matthew Schoenfeld

General Counsel

Matt grew up in Maryland and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a music scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a Minor in Music Performance. After discovering that life as a musician living in New York City was not as prosperous or fulfilling as he had dreamt, he returned home to attend the University of Baltimore School of Law where he graduated cum laude. Matt practiced law for several years at a Baltimore City law firm chiefly focusing on real estate matters before joining the legal team at David S. Brown Enterprises as Associate General Counsel in 2004. He was promoted to General Counsel in 2013 and currently manages the legal department and all legal affairs and functions of the company. His duties include the negotiation and closing of complex commercial financings, legal oversight of all development projects, leasing, contractual matters, litigation management, insurance claim management, and employment issues.
