Our Story

1933

Our Story Began Here

In 1933, David S. Brown started Brown Realty Company primarily as a home building company and landowner. Howard Brown created David S. Brown Enterprises in 1973, which he named after his father.

Our mission has been to invest in local communities and to deliver high-quality construction, innovative development, and exceptional real estate services. We provide essential internal offerings such as design, legal, leasing and management. With a portfolio of apartment communities, commercial office buildings, retail shopping centers, and mixed-use communities, we aim to serve the needs of the present and anticipate those of the future.

1964

Valley Village
Owings Mills, MD

Valley Village Shoppes and Professional Center along Reisterstown Road has been a popular retail and health services destination since its construction in 1964.

1966

St. Charles at Olde Court
Pikesville, MD

This 612 unit Pikesville apartment community welcomed its first residents in 1966. This was the first of many projects spearheaded by Howard S. Brown.

1967

Moravia Park
Baltimore, MD

Moravia Park Apartments has 201 units and has been a mainstay in the Rosedale community of Baltimore City for over 50 years, offering 1 and 2 bedrooms to residents.

1983

Executive Park West
Windsor Mill, MD

This 12-building, 30-acre business park began construction in 1983 with its most recent building, 3120 Lord Baltimore Drive, delivered in 2005. A Fitness and Conference Center was added in 2020.

Cascades Overlook
Owings Mills, MD

This Owings Mills apartment community features a mix of 100 mid-rise luxury suites and 341 garden style residences.

100 Painters Mill

Red Brook Corporate Center

The quintessential suburban office park, Red Brook Corporate Center features five buildings across 60 wooded, distinctively landscaped acres.

2001

Symphony Center
Baltimore, MD

Located in the historic Mid-Town Belvedere neighborhood, this was the first transit-oriented development completed by David S. Brown Enterprises and the first constructed in the city.

2004

Boulevard Corporate Center
Owings Mills, MD

First constructed in 2004 with additions as recently as 2015, this mixed-use office and retail center is located directly next to the Stevenson University Owings Mills Campus.

2005

Boulevard Place
Windsor Mill, MD

Located in Windsor Mill, MD, Boulevard Place is a mixed-use development that features Class A office buildings and several notable retail tenants.

Stevenson University
Owings Mills, MD

David S. Brown has led many development projects for Stevenson University, most notably the construction of the Howard S. Brown School of Business and Leadership in 2008.

2007

Metro Centre
Owings Mills, MD

Development on Baltimore County’s first transit-oriented community began 2007 and continues. It has over 1,500,000 SF of retail and office space and 1,700 apartments.

2008

Lansdowne Station
Lansdowne, MD

This mixed use development, completed in 2008, is anchored by a 230,000 SF WalMart Supercenter.

2021

Marriott
Owings Mills, MD

The first full-service hotel in Owings Mills, The Marriott, features 229 rooms, nearly 15,000 SF of flexible event space and, The Tillery, an upscale restaurant.

2022

The Willard
Owings Mills, MD

The Willard Apartments, completed in 2022, features 227 luxury one and two bedroom apartments, two outdoor courtyards, and a two-story fitness center.
